At vhf airband the insertion loss is around 10 dB or so. If the reception is borderline in your current situation then I think it would be very worthwhile to try a portable antenna tuned for airband. You will buy back that 10 dB, which is significant. Airband is fine until there is a problem. Once there is an issue they do not have the customer service or back up to sort problems. If you rely on your broadband they are a risky option. Sadly until they have a more professional and reliable back up service I would look elsewhere.
